You might be surprised to learn of all the benefits of being around an indoor or outdoor garden fountain. Water makes up a considerable proportion of our body constitution, and populations world-wide tend to gravitate towards coastal areas. While you could invest in an expensive beach house or jump in the ocean every day to enjoy the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and less costly!

If you want to make your porch, patio, or back yard even more enjoyable, think about purchasing an outdoor garden fountain. Even if you are already pleased with your outdoor area, the introduction of one of the many outdoor fountains available will make you appreciate it even more. If you have a screened porch, think about installing one there, or if not, then on the outside wall above your patio. Your flower garden will become a place of luxurious decadence and harmony if you put in a tiered type. Due to the continuous movement of water in a birdbath fountain, algae and bacteria do not build up, and birds come flocking to the fresh water. The final touch your garden area needs to be an oasis of serenity is the sound of water in motion.

The Wide Array of Models of Water Wall Fountains

Small patios or courtyards are an ideal place to set up wall fountains because they add style to an area with limited space. Conventional, antique, modern, or Asian are just a few of the designs you can pick from when looking for an outdoor wall fountain to your liking. If you are looking for a unique design, a custom-built one can be specially made to meet your specifications.

Depending on your wishes, you can select from mounted or freestanding types. Small, self-contained mounted wall fountains can be hung on any surface. Fountains of this kind need to be light, therefore, they are usually fabricated from resin (resembling stone) or fiberglass. Large-sized free-standing wall fountains, often referred to as floor fountains, have their basins located on the floor and a flat side leaning on a wall. Water features such as these are typically made of cast stone and have no weight limits.

Landscape professionals often propose a customized fountain for a brand new or existing wall. Employing an expert mason is your best option to build the basin and install the required plumbing. A fountain mask or a spout also needs to be integrated into the wall. Customized wall fountains add to a unified appearance because they become part of the scenery rather than look like a later addition.

Beautiful Backyard Multi-Level Water Elements

Fountains with multiple tiers can be seen just about anywhere and have been displayed in gardens for ages. You can find a lot of these fountains in Italy, Spain, and other Southern European nations. Piazzas and building courtyards are very popular places where you will find tiered fountains. All tiered fountains are alluring, although some have much more lavish carvings than others.

Traditional or classic surroundings are great places for them. It should look as if the fountain has been part of the decor since the beginning and should blend in accordingly.

Pets and Outdoor Fountains

If you are thinking about getting a water feature, ensure that your pets like it. Your pet dog could think that your freestanding fountain resembles a big pond to drink from or a pool in which to swim. Your pets will not be negatively affected if you add a wall water element to your yard. Give some thought to the best spot to put your water feature if you do not want birds to use it as a bathing pond. Putting in a birdbath is a great solution if you want birds to check out your yard, however. The indoor use of wall water fountains is entirely possible if wish to avoid these problems. Dentists’ and doctors’ offices as well as stately homes are just a few of the places where you can find these kinds of fountains.

A Smaller Garden Space? Don't Feel Left Out! You Can Still Have a Water Fountain

The reflective properties of water means it can make smaller spaces appear bigger than they are. Dark materials increase the reflective properties of a fountain or water feature. If your intention is to highlight your new feature at night, underwater lights in varied colors and shapes will do the trick. Solar powered eco-lights are great during the day and submerged lights are perfect for nighttime use. The calming effect created by these is oftentimes used in nature therapies to alleviate anxiety and stress.

Your outdoor vegetation is a fantastic place to blend in your water feature. Turn your water feature such as a pond, artificial river, or fountain to become the central component of your backyard. Water features make great additions to both large gardens or small patios. The atmosphere can be significantly altered by placing it in the best place and using the right accessories.

A True Roman Wonder: The Santa Maria Water Fountain in Cosmedin

Archaeologists and restorers alike have stumbled upon a treasure trove of heathen and Christian relics on the grounds of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome.

The nearby basilica is largely renowned for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. The location of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known area and was, therefore, not oftentimes visited. Since the nearby area was gloomy and mostly uninhabited, visitors were not particularly interested in visiting it. It was then that the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was commissioned by Pope Clement XI to erect a fountain in the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in an effort to make the area more popular. August 11, 1717 saw the beginning of the task to lay down the foundation of the church. The blessing of the first stone to be placed in the foundation was followed by medals being thrown in showing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water.
