Factors to Know When Putting in a Garden Water Element

win940_dw46108__33955.jpg When considering where to set up your garden fountain, do not overlook the fact that you will need somewhere to plug it in and a convenient source of water. The practical side of setting one up is often overlooked because people get so focused on the beauty of it. Do not forget that an extension cord can be useful if your 120v power source is more than 12 feet away, as that is the typical length of power cords. Set up your fountain in a place close to a water source as you will need to replenish it. Carrying large amounts of water requires strength so you do not want to have to carry it a long way. The simplest way to fill the fountain is with a nearby hose. If you have an expert on hand, you may want to look into getting a water fountain autofill with a connection to an external water line, as this would be much simpler in the long run.

The Pull of Tiered Water Features

Fountains with multiple tiers can be seen just about anywhere and have been featured in gardens for many years. These kinds of fountains are widespread in Italy, Spain, and other Mediterranean nations. The courtyards of buildings and communal areas are just two the areas you might find one. Tiered fountains come in a wide variety of designs, from elaborately carved styles to relatively simple types.

Traditional or classic surroundings are great spots for them. It should seem as if the fountain has been part of the environment since the beginning and should blend in accordingly.

Backyard Water Features: The Designs From Which to Choose

Gardens allow you to retreat into nature and be outside whenever you want.

There is nothing as wonderful as one to chill out in, something you can keep in mind when you are working to get it set up. The value of your home will increase with a lovely garden area, as it will enhance the “curb appeal” of the property. There are many ways to enhance the visual beauty of a yard, like adding flowers and plants, artwork, an attractive pavement, or a water feature.

A significant enhancement to your garden can be realized by installing a water fountain. A true fantasyland can be developed from what used to be a very plain spot. You are not the only one who will enjoy the serenity the sounds of the water create; you might also notice an increase in the number of birds and other friendly critters visiting. Before you know it, the whole garden or yard will have a new centerpiece.

The Stupendous Santa Maria in Cosmedin Water Feature in Rome

Archaeologists and restorers alike have stumbled upon a wealth of pagan and Christian artifacts on the grounds of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. The nearby basilica is mainly for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. Built in 1719, the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain was relatively unknown and located far from sight making it difficult to visit. The part of town where it was located was depressing and uninviting which was enough to keep visitors away. As part of an effort to refurbish the piazza outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was commissioned by Pope Clement XI to take on the job.

August 11, 1717 saw the start of the job to put down the foundation of the church. After blessing of the first stone, medallions with the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown into the foundation.

The Origins of Modern Wall Fountains

Hundreds of ancient Greek documents were translated into Latin under the patronage of the scholarly Pope Nicholas V who led the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455. Continuing in his quest to make the city worthy of being called the seat of the Christian world, he decided to exalt the beauty of the city as well. Beginning in 1453, the ruined Aqua Vergine, an historical Roman aqueduct which had brought clean drinking water into the city from many miles away, underwent restoration at the bidding of the Pope. In addition, the ancient Roman practice of marking the arrival point of an aqueduct with an grandiose celebratory fountain, also referred to as a mostra, was restored by Nicholas V. At his behest, the architect Leon Battista Alberti began the building of a wall fountain in the spot where the magnificent Trevi Fountain now stands. The aqueduct he had reconditioned included changes and extensions which eventually enabled it to supply the necessary water to the Trevi Fountain as well as the renowned baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and the Piazza Navona.

Enliven Your Workaday Life with a Water Feature

The movement and sound of water emitted from a fountain have two benefits: cleaning the air and proving a place of relaxation and peace, both of which will better your quality of life.

Both an indoor and an outdoor garden fountain will help you in ways you might not even realize. It is most likely no coincidence that the human body is composed mainly of water, and that people are attracted to coastal cities. Water is required for life, and a water feature can provide the benefits of water in a quick and affordable way.

Your patio, porch, or back yard can be upgraded by getting an outdoor garden fountain. Outdoor water features can further elevate even the most gorgeous space.

If you have a screened porch, give some thought to installing one there, or if not, then on the outside wall above your patio. Your flower garden will become a place of luxurious decadence and tranquility if you put in a tiered type. Birds love birdbath fountains because the flow of the water ensures that it stays clean and does not build up bacteria and algae. Perfect your garden area with the serene sound of flowing water.
