How a Fountain Can Make Your Environment Better

Having a fountain around can improve your day-to-day life as the soothing sound of the water provides a sense of tranquility, and the movement of the water serves to clean and moisten the air.

You might be surprised to learn of all the advantages of being around an indoor or outdoor garden fountain. People around the world pulled to coastal cities and major bodies of water, most likely driven by the fact that our bodies have a high water content. While you could invest in an overpriced beach house or plunge into the ocean every day to experience the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and less costly! cs_162_designer_white__97602.jpg

Your patio, porch, or back yard can be improved by setting up an outdoor garden fountain. However lovely it already is, your space will be even more beautiful if you add an outdoor water feature from the wide variety available. A terrific idea is to set up one on the wall of your screened porch, or perhaps outside as part of your outdoor decor. Your flower garden will become a place of elegant decadence and tranquility if you put in a tiered version. Birds love birdbath fountains because the flowing of the water ensures that it stays clean and does not build up bacteria and algae. Perfect your garden area with the calm sound of flowing water.

The Origins of Modern Outdoor Wall Fountains

As the head of the Catholic Church, the scholarly Pope Nicholas V (1397-1455} decided to authorize translations of invaluable texts from their original Greek into Latin. Turning the city into the deserving capital of the Christian community was important to him, so he also took steps to embellish it. In 1453 he initiated the repairing of the Aqua Vergine, an ancient Roman aqueduct which had carried clean drinking water into the city from many miles away.

Nicholas V also embarked on the building of mostras, an ancient Roman tradition of putting up imposing public fountains to indicate the terminal point of an aqueduct. At his bidding, the architect Leon Battista Alberti undertook the building of a wall fountain in the place where the imposing Trevi Fountain now stands. The modifications, as well as the extensions included in the restored aqueduct, ultimately made it possible to provide the Trevi Fountain and the well-known baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona with the necessary water to function.

Dogs, Cats and Water Features

House pets may be wary of a new water feature so make sure to take them into account before purchasing one. Your pet dog could think that your freestanding fountain looks like a big pond to drink from or a pool in which to bathe. Your pets will not be negatively affected if you add a wall water element to your yard. Your fountain may draw in birds who think it is a great place to cool down, so it is important to think about where you will place this type of water feature. If you want to deliberately entice birds, however, putting in a birdbath is a good solution. To prevent this, however, installing a wall water fountain inside your residence is a great alternative. Grand mansions, in addition to dentist’ and doctors’ practices, often have such fountains on show.

Anglo-Saxon Gardens at the Time of the Norman Conquest

The Anglo-Saxon way of life was drastically changed by the arrival of the Normans in the later eleventh century. Engineering and gardening were skills that the Normans excelled in, trumping that of the Anglo-Saxons at the time of the occupation. But the Normans had to pacify the whole territory before they could focus on home life, domestic architecture, and decoration. Because of this, castles were cruder buildings than monasteries: Monasteries were often important stone buildings set in the biggest and most fecund valleys, while castles were constructed on windy crests where their residents dedicated time and space to projects for offense and defense.

Relaxing pastimes such as gardening were out of place in these destitute citadels. Berkeley Castle, maybe the most pristine style of the early Anglo-Norman style of architecture, still exists in the present day. The keep is thought to date from the time of William the Conqueror. As a technique of deterring attackers from tunneling beneath the walls, an immense terrace surrounds the building. One of these terraces, a charming bowling green, is covered grass and flanked by an old yew hedge trimmed into the form of crude battlements.

Style Variations for Backyard Water Fountains

Gardens allow you to retreat into nature and be outside anytime you want. There is nothing as wonderful as one to unwind in, something you can keep in mind when you are working to get it set up. Both the “curb appeal” and the value of your home will be driven up when you put in an eye-catching garden. Many people decide to add to their landscaping by putting in statues or other art, re-doing the pavement of their driveway, planting trees, or including a water feature.

A water fountain can make a significant difference to the elegance and tranquility of your garden. A place of harmony and serenity will appear from what was originally just a simple spot. The sounds of a water fountain make for a peaceful environment, not just for people but for the birds and other local wildlife that it will entice.

All attention will now be focussed on the dazzling fountain.

The Innumerable Options in Garden Wall Fountains

Having a wall fountain in your backyard or on a veranda is great when you wish to relax. Even a little space can contain a customized one. Both the stand alone and fitted models must have a spout, a water basin, internal tubing, and a pump. Traditional, modern, antique, and Asian are just some of the styles from which you can consider.

With its basin situated on the ground, freestanding wall fountains, or floor fountains, are generally quite large in size.

You can choose to place your wall-mounted feature on an existing wall or build it into a new wall. Integrating this type of water feature into your landscape adds a cohesiveness to the look you want to attain rather than making it seem as if the fountain was merely added later.
