How a Water Element Can Make Your World Better

Your quality of life will be absolutely influenced by a fountain as it not only offers you a place of peace and calm, but also serves to clean the air.

There are many advantages to having an indoor or exterior water fountain which you may not even recognize. It is most likely no coincidence that the human body is made up primarily of water, and that people are driven to coastal cities. or_153__25968.jpg While you could invest in an overpriced beach house or plunge into the ocean every day to reap the benefits of water, getting a water feature is much easier and less costly!

Enhance any outdoor area by adding a gorgeous outdoor garden fountain. Even if you are already happy with your outdoor area, the addition of one of the many outdoor fountains available will make you appreciate it even more. If you have a screened porch, give some thought to installing one there, or if not, then on the external wall above your patio. Add beauty and the lovely music of babbling water to your flower bed with a tiered model. You will notice lots of birds visiting your garden if you add a birdbath fountain, as the water stays fresher than still water since it is continuously flowing. The final detail your garden area needs to be a haven of tranquility is the sound of flowing water.

Factors to Consider When Installing a Garden Water Feature

When planning where to set up your garden fountain, do not forget that you will need somewhere to plug it in and a convenient source of water. People sometimes forget the technical things because they get caught up in the excitement of installing their newest purchase. Do not forget that an extension cord can be handy if your 120v power source is more than 12 feet away, as that is the standard length of power cords. You will need to replenish your fountain with water so make sure there is a source of water nearby. Carrying large quantities of water is difficult so you do not want to have to lug it a long way. A nearby hose can make filling the fountain a lot more convenient.

A water fountain autofill will make your life simpler in the long run, but this requires a specialist to install since it must be connected to an external water line.

The Different Types of Backyard Water Fountains

When you want to chill out for a moment and get some fresh air, a garden is the perfect spot. While it is not a simple task to build one, you will be happy you did once you are able to relax and enjoy it. Investing in a gorgeous garden is good, as it will enhance the “curb appeal” and value of your home. Experts advise adding flowers or trees, a pavement, a charming water feature, or unique statues to enhance the overall look of your property.

A water fountain can significantly change the aesthetics of a garden. A true fantasyland can be created from what used to be a very simple spot. The trickling water of your fountain will not only give you a calming oasis, it will also attract wild birds and other friendly local animals. Your fountain will immediately turn into the focal point of your garden or yard.

Dogs, Cats and Garden Fountains

If you are thinking about getting a water feature, make sure your pets like it.

Pets such as dogs may confuse your freestanding fountain with a large pool to cool off in or a pond from which to drink. Your pets will not be negatively influenced if you add a wall water element to your property. You should take into account the fact that birds may think they have found a new place to bathe when they notice your fountain so think well where you put it. If you intend to deliberately attract birds, however, putting in a birdbath is a good solution. Setting up a wall water fountain inside your house is a good option if you want to avoid such concerns. These types of fountains are great for dental and medical offices, not to mention grand estates.

The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Wall fountains

It is important to carefully maintain water fountains for them to perform properly. A common problem with fountains is that they tend to collect dirt and debris, so it is vital that you keep it free from this. Additionally, anywhere light from the sun comes in contact with still water, algae can appear. Mix hydrogen peroxide, sea salt, or vinegar into the water to avoid this particular dilemma. There are those who choose to use bleach, but that is dangerous to any animals that might drink or bathe in the water - so should therefore be avoided.

Experts suggest that the typical garden fountain undergoes a thorough scouring every 3-4 months. Before you can start washing it you need to empty out all of the water. Next use mild soap and a soft sponge to clean the innner part of the reservoir. A helpful tip is to use a toothbrush if there are tiny hard-to-reach spots. Be sure to completely rinse the inner surface of the fountain to make sure all the soap is gone.

Calcium and fresh water organisms could get inside the pump, so you should disassemble it to get it truly clean. To make it less strenuous, soak it in vinegar overnight before cleaning. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain ingredients that will collect inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.

And finally, make sure the water level is continuously full in order to keep your fountain operating smoothly. Allowing the water level to get too low can cause damage to the pump - and you certainly do not want that!

Santa Maria in Cosmedin: A Roman Water Display Worthy of Visiting

Archaeologists and restorers on the lookout for pagan and Christian relics in Rome have come upon a treasure trove of them in the area of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin. The nearby basilica is mainly for the marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità, (Mouth of Truth) located in its entryway. When the Santa Maria in Cosmedin water fountain was created in 1719, it was off the beaten track and generally unknown as a result. Since the nearby area was depressing and mostly abandoned, visitors were not particularly interested in visiting it. It was then that the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was mandated by Pope Clement XI to erect a water fountain in the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in an effort to make the area more popular. August 11, 1717 saw the start of the job to put down the foundation of the church. Medallions bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water”, were thrown in the foundation following the blessing of the first stone.
